I've been making lots of holsters, putting in my garden. I hope to finish planting my sweet corn this week. I put it in a bit later so it will be ready later when we have more time to put it up. I need to get out and do some fishing. I have only gotten out once so far this year. I am hoping to purchase a new rifle in late August or September. I am thinking about a .44 Mag for deer this year since OH new law allows rifles that shoot straight walled pistol cartridges.

Sounds great Rohn, You planning on getting a lever action .44 or something else?

Yes it will be lever action. I am considering the Marlin or possibly the Henry.

I am a big fan of the Henry rifles.... I have one of their .22's and it is amazing. Smoothest action and it's completely solid. That being said the old marlin's were good. Some of the newer ones are of a lesser quality. I haven't checked any out for a couple years, So they may be better now. I would enjoy having one of the Henry .44 rifles... But I think I'll hold off for a while if I can . I did have a crazy thought about getting a lever action Henry 45-70... I'm impulsive I guess. I figure that I'll hold off until next year and if they still are allowing us to hunt with those I might get one. I wouldn't have much of a use other than hunting for a 45-70 so I'd want to make sure it's legal for long enough for me to actually hunt with it.

I actually considered the 45-70 but I think the .44 mag will do the job just as well with less recoil. Besides if I ever decide to get a .44 mag revolver I can use the same dies to reload for both handgun and rifle.
I would like to hunt with a revolver if OH didn't have such ridiculous laws, like if you hunt with a handgun it has to be displayed outside your coat. And you can only carry one gun at a time for hunting, so I can't strap my handgun on and carry my rifle too. I hate these laws and during hunting season I wish I was back in PA where I carried a revolver and grabbed up my rifle or shotgun and went hunting. Well I'll get off my soapbox for now. Sorry for the rant.

It is ridiculous... But it's because we allow it.
I'd love to be able to hunt with my M91/30 but there is little chance I ever will.
The problem is so many willingly comply with the law. If we could get 40% of the hunting community to disobey those laws they would be repealed... But no one will ever do it. It makes me sad to see so many people today that think that government can do whatever it pleases... And sadly it will as long as we think that way.
