What are the thoughts around here on the current military?
I'm not asking whether you appreciate our military members.
I think our current military is unconstitutional. No disrespect, but it is. That's a fact. No one can dispute that.
So what is my alternative?
What it was meant to be.
Our second amendment. It says
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Ok. Most of us know that by heart.
Most people will think that that simply means people can have guns and that's all it says.
It's not. It guarantees us two definitive things.
One: We can own ARMS.
The fact that it says "Arms"is extremely important.
It is our constitutional right to own anything from a SAM missile to a pocket knife. Anything that can cause damage to personnel or buildings/transportation.
Two: We can organize militias. We are allowed to get fifty guys together and form a militia.
That is particularly important to my point.
People say if we have no army, We have no protection and we'd be invaded immediately.
At the current point, that's true.
But picture how the founders wanted it. The modern equivalent of what they wanted would be a stinger missile cache in every barn and a crate of automatic rifles and ammunition in every home.
That's basically what it was in 1776. They had muskets, the most technologically advanced firearm yet at the time. They had cannons, able to take out the largest troop carriers (ships).
Picture this. If we had fifty percent of our population armed to the extent of what I just described, do you think we would be invaded?
It's impossible. It couldn't happen. No army could ever conquer something like that. That's what it was meant to be. We never were meant to have an armed forces like the one we have now. Our navy, yes. But not the army.
Two years at a time. That's all the time money is allowed to be used for land based military purposes.
There is no time limit on money allotted for the navy, but there I'd on the army. Why?
Standing armies are a threat to liberty. That is a fact. We've become unbelievably apathetic to the presence of a standing army that wasn't allowed in the constitution. We don't care that it's here. I, for one, do.
It's not that I don't trust our military members. But think. If we were to ever question a law, let's say, a law requiring all Americans of Hispanic decent to immediately buy life insurance (Bad example I know!) what would stop the military from imprisoning all the violators of that law?
Absolutely nothing.
The reason standing armies weren't allowed is because they are easily able to attack, imprison, or kill large amounts of people. Tyranny is much easier to enforce when there is a huge army ready to attack "extremists".
They will attack us if ordered. Some won't, But most will. They will tell them we are anti American extremists and want to overthrow our form government. Nothing would be further from the truth, but they wouldn't know that.
It would be easier for us to prepare for our defense if we had an warning. When they recruit 30% of the male population, you'd know something is wrong.
The best course of action is for us to require congress to perform one of their duties. Arm and train the militia. We are the militia one of congress's duties is to arm and hire puerile to train all who want to be in a militia. That's there duty. They're required to do that. It's non-negotiable. So we should require then to do that duty. But not only that.
One that's accomplished, and 50% of our countrymen are armed, We should cut back on the military by fifty percent or more. Then, allot so much money for defense over the next two years, and once that's up, it's up. Sell the military arms to civilians, the jets, tanks, and explosives should be stockpiled in locations throughout the U.S. should our country be attacked. Once all that is done, we will have a much smaller risk of tyranny, and much less spending also.
Many will wonder what my idea of what to do for all the military members. Hire them to train and distribute arms for the militia. They will be busy doing that for at least three more years, long enough, If other reforms are begun, to improve the economy, alerting then to find jobs in the private sector.
Who here agrees?
