Yeah this sounds like a tough situation. People who conceal carry do it for their safety and the safety of others, and are usually more than willing to rescue anyone in trouble. But in a case like this the victim was really the suspect.
Not sure of what I would do in that situation. I does make you think.
The thing to learn from this is, don't act until you are 100% sure.

That is a very tough situation. But the guy did the right thing by not acting too quickly (although I guess he could not have!). Whatever happens, you must diffuse the situation.
If you can get the two separated by a few feet and call the cops then they can handle the mess. Although when the officer reached in his pocket he could have been pulling out a gun as far as the CCW guy was concerned. It would not be a bad idea for the first round in your gun to be a subsonic round, so if you have to shoot it will not likely kill any of the people involved.
