Me and Justin went hunting today, with much success. He shot his deer and then alerted me there was another for me to shoot. This was shot from about 150 yards away with a .45 CVA Kodak magnum muzzleloader. I hit it right in the heart. Anyone else have any luck?

Congratulations to you too Justin. Looks like you two guys will be eating venison. I am going to try later this week and hopefully I'll also be eating venison.

Thanks Rohn. We did really good yesterday.
I went out again this morning, but no luck. There's still quite a few days left though.

Congratulations Matt. I didn't get to go out yet but am planning on going later in the week. Great pictures. Good luck to you. The are more people hunting this year around my house than there were last year but I think the deer harvest will be less. I know a guy that processes deer and last year he got 174 deer in his shop on the first three days of gun season.

Thanks Sid. Yeah we'll probably have to give a-lot away. Or we can just have deer every night for the rest of the year. Justin

About a dozen years ago I lived in PA and we hunted deer a lot. I have 4 kids and so we ate a lot of venison. One year with some that we shot and some that other people gave us we put up 10 deer. When we finally ran out and began to buy beef my children complained and said the beef was to greasy. We practically live on venison all year. I love venison and prefer it to beef.

Ten deer!?? Wow. That's a-lot of deer for one year. I like venison too. I would rather have a deer burger than a hamburger. Justin

I have been out the last two days but no luck. I did enjoy my time in the woods though. Yesterday I didn't see so much as a track. Today I saw lots of tracks and did hear a deer "blow" but did not see it.
Muzzle-loader season is coming in January.

Yes. I will have to get another deer. I need some hamburger.
We cut up our deer and with another one dad killed we are at maybe 50 pounds of burger. Most of that will go to be made into summer sausage and maybe some bologna that we have made at a processing shop up in Holmes county. We made some salami too so we might have to try more of that.
