On Friday we shot my Ruger Security Six. This is a great gun and was purchased many years ago when I turned 21 years of age. It is now no longer in production and was replaced by Ruger with the GP100. I had my nephew and my daughter with and we sure had a blast. I love the feel of the recoil with this gun as the sots are squeezed off. My daughter really enjoys shooting this one too. Here I am shooting this fine gun.

That's a nice gun Rohn! I have never fired a 357mag before, but I like the look and feel of a revolver. I like the grip on the this one better than on the GP100. Any Ruger gun is good one though. Does it have a 5in barrel?

Justin, It has a 6" barrel. The grips are not the ones it come with. The grips you see from Packmayr and they soak up a lot of the recoil and give a lot better control.

I like that. Very nice gun.
I agree with Justin those grips are a LOT nicer looking than the ones that come on the GP100.
How is the accuracy on it?

Matt said: Although I didn't save a target or take any pictures of one the accuracy on the Security Six is great. Next time I take it out I'll do an accuracy test. Justin said: Snub nose revolvers are great for self defense. I carried a Charter Arms "Undercover" for many years and I could hit good with it. I just replaced it with my LC9 that I have posted about. I still have the "Undercover" and will not part with it. If I was looking to buy a snub-nosed revolver today I guess I'd go with Ruger's SP101. (I do have a hangup on Ruger handguns) . I think Ruger is a great company and I love their products.

The funny thing about this Security Six is that when I bought it, it was brand new and I paid $182.50 for it. That was in 1978.

Nice looking revolver Rohn. I don't have any revolvers anymore and do miss them. Wouldn't it be great if you could find one at that price today!

You can't beat that. I would love the day that the dollar would be worth anything. They said that one dollar around 1820 was worth about 20 of today's dollars.
Also one reason guns are so expensive is because the taxes on manufacturers. They tax gun manufacturers to discourage the public from buying as much as possible. If you look at the taxes gun manufacturers face, it is insane. Between the Firearms Excise Tax and the other taxes on guns and ammo no wonder guns are so expensive.

The same time I bought this Security Six I also bought a .22 LR Single Six that I have and use regularly and I paid $125.00 for it. Oh, for the good old days.
