The forum has been kinda dead for a few days, and I was just wondering what all you guys have been doing. It has been crazy here. We have been working in this heat. It certainly doesn't seem like just 9 days from squirrel season. It is so hot in the day and so cold at night. This might be an excellent year for the oak trees. Around here I expect the white oaks and hickories to bear early. Squirrels are already cutting on some hickory nuts now and then. We gotta keep the squirrels in fear. That way they won't make us so mad in deer season.

Hi Matt. I just got back from a 10 day Camp Meeting. We had beautiful weather and a wonderful time. I may post some pictures and more of a report if anyone is interested. Picked corn form our garden this morning for dinner and it was soooo good that we picked some more for supper. Next week we will have to be putting some up in the freezer. I think we are going to dry some too.
I am anxious for squirrel season, but hope it cools down some.

Sounds like fun. I would love to hear about it. Is your corn still good? Ours was planted in april and the corn tastes like field corn. It is awful. It was good while it lasted.

Our corn was planted later in the season. I'm not sure what the date was but it is really good and ready. We will be putting it up next week. We planted "Candy Corn" this year, it is good and sweet. If you plant corn every couple of weeks in the planting season you can have fresh corn all summer long.

That is a good idea. I will remember that.
