We finally caught a turtle yesterday. I was away when my pardner checked the lines in the evening and about the time I was about home he pulled in this turtle. He brought it over and we took some pictures. This last picture is me holding up our catch. Hopefully we will catch more and I will be there to help him pull them in. This fella was caught on a hook but we are planing to make a cage trap in the next few days to try. I'll be posting more as time goes on.

Hey Rohn. That's a good sized turtle! I'm glad to see you got one. Are you going to butcher it and store it? Or do you do something else with it?
Thanks for the update Rohn.

This one went to our gun club president. He will keep it for several days in some water in a barrel changing the water every day. Then it (the turtle) will meet its demise and will be put into turtle soup. We hope to catch him a few more to add to his stores of turtle meat. We will eventually keep some for ourselves. We just have to see how he butchers them first so we can do it on our own. We are just learning this turtle trapping thing so it all takes time.
Just got back from checking the lines, but no turtles. Will check again in the morning.

That is great. I am glad you had good luck. It is a really good size turtle. Bet you gotta be careful on handling those. Take your fingers clean off probably . So be careful and the best of luck.

I bet you will be a pro at it in no time though! So Rohn, do you like trapping turtles so far?

Yes, I do Justin. So far so good. I'm hoping to catch more and if I do I'm sure I'll like it better. It is always fun and enjoyable to get out along the water and in the woods.

Yeah With a first catch like that you will probably have good season. I know what you mean. There is nothing like getting out early, whether you're hunting, fishing or trapping. Justin
