July 1st came and we had something come up and were unable to set out our turtle hooks. But we did set them out yesterday. We baited with chicken liver which I felt at the time was a mistake because I have fished with Chicken liver and know how hard it is to keep on the hook. This morning our hooks were all clean as a whistle and no turtles. We ended up getting some pork and baiting with that. I'll be checking them tonight around 8:00 and then again in the morning early. I'll keep you all posted on how this works and if we are successful or not. Here are some pictures of the hooks baited and ready to throw out. In the first and last picture you can see the 3 ounce weight we use to get the bait down to the bottom of the pond. Hope it works.

I would say you could smell that on a day like yesterday . Bet it smells real nice... The turtles probably think so anyway. I think you will have some luck. Just keep your fingers crossed... and you can maybe have some turtle stew.

No turtles yet. Checked the3 lines this morning and found the bait gone n three of them but not turtles. We re-baited and now are hoping something good comes of it. I think maybe the small turtles are eating off the bait??? Not sure though. I'll keep you all posted.

Maybe try a smaller hook. I don't know anything about it, but it may work. It could be fish though...Good luck.
